Positioning indoors – without GPS
For many years, operators and technology companies have tried to find a standard for positioning indoors, but without reaching a conclusion. Now Spirius becomes the reseller of a new positioning system that solves the problem.
The position of people and objects indoors without GPS is the business concept. By setting up reference stations in your building and providing objects, or people, with a special tag, it becomes easy to keep track on your computer or mobile. The solution comes with its own business system, but can also be linked to existing business or logistics systems. Behind the solution is a European technology development company that has chosen Spirius as a Swedish retailer.
– There is definitely a need for indoor positioning, both to keep track of expensive equipment and to reduce risk of theft. One can also see the need for personal alarms for a security guard to work alone in a large building complex. Larger warehouses, hospitals, industries or gigantic malls are also environments that could use the technology, says Jonas Rexeke, CEO of Spirius.
The base stations transmit via their own radio network which reads the tags. The technology can also be used outdoors in the next phase, and be able to position via GPS.
– We think the technology is interesting and fits our IoT profile, says Jonas Rexeke. Now we want to find partners who would like to test it.
