SMS still to be reckoned with Swedes prefer SMS
When it comes to urgent information, SMS is still the most used communication channel in Sweden according to the Swedish Internet Foundation’s latest survey.
“Swedes and the internet” are an annual survey of the Swedish people’s internet habits, how the use of the internet develops and the digitization of society. In the Internet Foundation’s latest survey of urgent public information, it becomes clear that SMS is by far the channel that everyone, regardless of age, prefers. Equally concerning, the population agrees that e-mail is the second best-option. Opinions then differ.
Those who are 76 years or older have the same first choice as the rest of the population for both urgent (SMS, 47 percent) and general (e-mail, 29 percent) social information, but are not as convinced as the population (SMS, 76 percent and e-mail respectively, 42 percent).
– This clearly shows that SMS is still to be reckoned with. It has also been shown during the pandemic that SMS is a socially important function for other things, such as deliveries of food and more, says Jonas Rexeke, CEO of Spirius.
