Spirius celebrates 10 years!
On August 21, 2009, Spirius AB was registered with the Swedish Companies Registration Office. It should be seen as the starting point. From the beginning it was not obvious what the company would do, but quite quickly it became back to business – selling SMS solutions. Something there was experience of from the early nineties. Spirius CEO Jonas Rexeke remembers the ten years that have passed.
– Around the turn of the millennium, I worked at Wireless Maingate, the world’s first M2M operator, what we today call IoT. M2M was seen as a future business, the problem was that it would take many years before customers were ready. It also depended on the 3G network being well developed. To get something to do, I started selling SMS on Maingate, a market I knew where the need was great, says Jonas Rexeke.
Gradually, the idea to make an MBO at that part of Maingate was born, but it was never realized. In the end, Jonas Rexeke decided to take the leap and start his own business instead.
– With the facts in hand, I would have done it earlier when the profitability for SMS was better, but I have never regretted it. What I’ve always been passionate about is customer contact and several of my customers have also become my friends. At Spirius I can stand for our services and our quality, that was not the case before.
The company was started together with Leissner Data AB, which was present until 2014. In 2012 Martin Kristell started at Spirius and shared ownership with Jonas.
– We knew each other since high school and I knew Martin was the right person, says Jonas Rexeke.
– It has gone according to plan, but it has taken longer time. The SMS market is severely priced. We needed to expand and started with IoT services three years ago and now the market is mature. We have another area that we call Solutions where we are currently working on exciting industrial property projects.
All this means that Spirius stands strong for the future. The next 10 years will be exciting!
