We own our own infrastructure and have all servers located in Sweden. As a registered operator, we are subject to both LEK and GDPR. The platform is completely redundant and hosted on facilities with 400 km geographical separation for maximum security.
A unique service that Spirius has allows up to 100,000 messages to be sent in a single call. You can even send up to 1 million messages with our extended service.
An additional feature is the Extended Virtual Number, which only exists in Sweden for now. The service allows you to append up to 4 digits to the number, which in turn allows you to get up to ten thousand unique addresses. A good feature if, for example, the company has about 100 employees and everyone wants to send SMS through their computer and receive SMS back to the computer.
While email has a natural history, context is often lost in the world of SMS. Imagine you need to inspect three different cars and receive a separate SMS for each booking. If you reply “Yes,” how does the system know which car you are confirming?
Whether you reply instantly or a month later, Smart Reply Path ensures your answer is automatically linked to the correct outgoing message. This technology can also be used for other purposes such as vouchers, ticket bookings, and customer surveys..
Spirius offers the following APIs:
- HTTP/S BATCH SMS

We offer three SMS types that optimize your delivery and cost:Vi erbjuder tre SMS-typer som optimerar din leverans och kostnad:
7-bit (Default): The most cost-effective choice for standard messages of up to 160 characters.
8-bit (Data): Technical solution optimized for binary data, IoT and machine-to-machine communication (M2M).
16-bit (Unicode): Full support for emojis and international alphabets. The system takes care of the technology and adjusts the length automatically.
SMS has been around since the 1990s, and its greatest strength is its immense reliability. With its universal reach, SMS works on all mobile phones in the world, including old feature phones.
Many other messaging services require an internet connection. SMS is sent over the regular mobile network (2G/3G/4G/5G) and works even if you lack mobile data or Wi-Fi. This provides guaranteed delivery for important messages, which is why banks, government agencies, and other public services still use SMS for things like one-time passwords (2FA) or other critical information.

The following APIs are supported:
- HTTP/S BATCH SMS
- HTTP/S REST
- HTTP/S GET (Webhook)
- HTTP/S POST
- WEB Service With SOAP
- SMPP
- E-mail ->SMS
- SMS -> E-mail
RCS API (NEW!)

The service allows your server to send a complete recipient list to Spirius in a single call. The standard service handles up to 100,000 messages per call, and with our extended service, you can send up to 1 million messages simultaneously.
This is an unbeatable tool for companies that need to reach a large number of recipients quickly, for example during urgent alerts such as power outages or operational disruptions.
Technically, an SMS is always 1,120 bits long. To optimize your deliveries and costs, Spirius supports three different encoding types:
7-bit (Standard): The most cost-effective choice for regular text messages. Holds up to 160 characters per SMS.
8-bit (Data): A technical solution optimized for binary data, IoT, and machine-to-machine (M2M) communication. Holds 140 characters per SMS.
16-bit (Unicode): Required if you want to use emojis or international characters (e.g., Arabic or Chinese characters). Holds 70 characters per SMS. Our system handles the technology and adjusts the length automatically.
Yes, through our add-on service Smart Reply Path. Unlike email, context is often lost in SMS threads.
Example: If a customer has three different cars booked for inspection and receives three separate SMS messages – which car is being confirmed if the customer just replies "Yes"?
With Smart Reply Path, the reply is automatically linked to the exact outgoing message, regardless of whether the customer replies immediately or a month later. The service is also ideal for managing vouchers, ticket bookings, and customer surveys.
Spirius was founded in 2009 by key individuals who have worked in telecom, SMS services, and IoT since 1992. This extensive experience is your guarantee of a secure and reliable delivery of your business-critical communication.
Spirius is also a registered operator with the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority (PTS), which means we meet the authority's strict requirements for Swedish telecom operators.
SMS stands for Short Message Service.
SMS was designed to be sent via the existing mobile network's control channels (the signals that the phone and cell tower use to talk to each other about coverage, incoming calls, etc.). Since the space in these channels was strictly limited, a maximum limit of 140 bytes was set, which corresponds to exactly 160 characters (using the standard GSM 7-bit alphabet).
SMS is best suited for situations where guaranteed delivery, immediate attention, and universal reach are more important than sleek design. Here are examples of applications where SMS is still completely superior:
1. Security and verification (2FA / OTP)
SMS is the world's most used channel for two-factor authentication (2FA) and one-time passwords (OTP). The reason is that it requires no app installation, works for all ages and devices, and is delivered in seconds.
2. Critical public alerts and notifications
When information must reach 100% of the population without delay, there is no real alternative to SMS. For example: important public announcements (VMA), crisis information from municipalities, service disruptions (e.g., power outages or water leaks), and emergency alerts to on-call staff. The reason is that it does not require the user to have mobile data turned on, Wi-Fi, or a specific app installed. SMS also gets through even when mobile networks are heavily congested.
3. Important reminders and appointments
Necessary reminders where a missed appointment costs money or creates administrative problems. For example: dental and doctor visits, vehicle inspections, delivery notifications (e.g., "Your package is ready for pickup"), and restaurant table service. The reason is that SMS has an open rate of around 98% (compared to email's ~20%), and most people read the message within 3 minutes.
4. B2C transactions and "last-minute" notices
Targeted communication at the moment of purchase or when something requires quick action from the customer. For example: door codes for hotels/rental cars, ticket links for concerts/trains, exclusive last-minute offers, or reminders about unpaid invoices before debt collection. The reason is that SMS does not end up in spam filters or "promotions tabs" like email often does, but appears directly on the mobile phone.
5. Municipal and internal corporate communication
When you need to reach staff or citizens who are not sitting in front of a computer all day. For example: calling in extra staff in healthcare/schools, quick shift changes, and messages from schools/preschools to parents. This makes it perfect for "field workers," shift workers, or target groups that do not have their own email address within the organization.
